Camera Equipment for Travel

I suppose providing an image of the equipment I use when traveling would be appropriate. As a Californian, I'm conflicted between traveling light and also being equiped to document the entire experience. Fortunately, the digitial age has allowed me to eliminate the bag full of SLR lenses and the bulky analogy video camera. My current set up was purchased two years ago, just before we traveled to Africa. For still images, I use a Panasonic DMC FZ10, a very versatile camera. The Lumix optical lense is the equivalent of a 35-450 film camera zoom, plus it comes with image stabilization, and numerous editing pre and post shot. It has a great lithium battery and uses SD card flash memory. I have now a 1gb Ultra Fast SanDisk card in the camera. After filling up the card, I download images to a portable hard drive unit called X-drive. It's a 20gb unit that after two years of shooting, still has plenty of storage space for the coming trip to New Orleans. It has a good lithium battery also, and can go for several days without need for recharge. In West Africa, I had the need to inspire the best from my human subjects, so I also carry a very portable Panasonic eWear printer, which is capable of producing a full color passport sized print in the field straight from the SD card.
